Colman's Famous English Mustard

"If you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen - Colman's - the not-so-mellow yellow"

Colman's MustardWhen one thinks of Baked Beans, Heinz immediately comes to mind.  The same is true for mustard - few other products are so closely linked to their branding.

The origins of mustard date back centuries.  It is mentioned in the Bible but its origins can be traced back even further to Hippocrates in 460 BC.

The Romans brought the hot seed with them to England and it has flourished there ever since.  The two most common types in England are "Brassica Juncea" and "Sinapis Alba" - or brown and white mustard respectively.

Colman's Mustard was invented by Jeremiah Colman in 1814 when he created a blend of the Brassica Juncea and Sinapis Alba mustards to create the distinctive and potent yellow Colman's mustard we know today.  In 1850 the firm moved to nearby Carrow in Norwich and has been there ever since.  Five years later the Bull was added as the firms' logo and in 1866 Queen Victoria gave her seal of approval by bestowing Colman's with the Royal Warrant.  Colman's is still enjoyed by the Royal family to this day.

Colman's mustard comes in the form of a powder and paste and is used by Britons in recipes and to liven up our often criticized bland cuisine.  It is particularly favoured in ham sandwiches and with Steaks.

The powdered form is more economical to ship.  Our Gopher in England is ready to take your request and mail items to you.  Make a request for Colman's mustard now.
