Seaside Rock
The British summers we remember from our youth include taking a walk on the pier, going on a donkey ride, playing Victorian fruit machines and chewing on a stick of rock. Rock is supposed to be rock hard but some unscrupulous vendors will sell you some that has spent too long in the sun and has become soft and chewy. The closest thing there is abroad to seaside rock is the American candy cane (the image is similar to candy cane). In America they have not put the lettering through the rock or used the little stickers denoting which seaside town it comes from. British rock can be found abroad, but only in places that the Brits patronize such as Benidorm. If you fancy some sticks of rock or want to try it for the first time we will buy it for you - simply make a request and we'll ship some straight to you. |
