USA - Rosh Hashanah & Yom Kippur

October 4th and 13th

Jewish people around the world celebrate the High Holy Days of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur on October 4 and 13 this year. Rosh Hashanah occurs on the first and second days of Tishri and is commonly known as the Jewish New Year. The Jewish New Year is a time to begin introspection, looking back at the mistakes of the past year and planning the changes to make in the new year.

No work is permitted on Rosh Hashanah and much of the day is spent in synagogue, Another popular observance during this holiday is eating apples dipped in honey, a symbol of our wish for a sweet new year. We highly recommend it. It's yummy. We also dip bread in honey at this time of year for the same reason.

Why not order some typical Jewish goodies that aren't available where you live? How bout a new Jewish calendar to start off the year? Kippahs or yarmulkes? Maybe a Jewish coloring book for your child? Or what about some good old Manischewitz treats? Get them all here at Global Gophers!

L'shanah tovah ("for a good year")!
