Economical Treats in Perth

Perth is a great town in Western Australia and is the most remote regional capital in the world. There is a thriving backpacker scene with many bars and nightclubs.

Whilst I was there I arranged a very economical evening in King's Park - a very large park in Perth. Rather than spend lots of money, a group of us bought some wine and food and went up to the park for the evening to watch the sunset. We arrived at 5pm and stayed until midnight.

Perth runs a free CAT bus service which runs in a loop around the city centre. If you hop on, it will take you most of the way to the park (we went via "Jacobs Ladder" where the WA Rugby Team were running up and down the steps). I shared a four litre, $12 AUD box of wine with two other people so the entire evening cost me $4.

We brought a frisbee, guitar and a football and had a great time. We could see bushfires in the distance which didn't seem to concern anyone.

Back in the centre of Perth, a great vegetarian meal can be found for $2 at the Hare Krishna restaurant.
