GOOGLE EARTH

Google Earth

google earthGoogle has launched (this is being written on June 30th 2005) an application that anyone can download called Google Earth. It is an amazing tool; you can zoom in anywhere in the world and see cars, shops and houses. So far I have zoomed in on several homes that I have lived in, mountains I've climbed and different buildings.

This is a great tool, especially for those who live abroad. It is amazing that you can zoom in to such detail. It is useful for planning holidays, organizing driving directions viewing hotels from a birds eye view. It is obviously a good way to learn and brush up on geography too.

North America has the best coverage so far, but major cities like London are also well served. The maps are being updated constantly so keep checking back if you can't see your home yet.

There are three versions you can install Google Earth, Google Earth Plus and Google Earth Pro. Google Earth is free, the other two charge a small fee.

You should try visiting all the wonders of the world! A few ideas for starters: visit the London Eye and Buckingham Palace, try to find the Sphinx and Pyramids near Cairo, why not visit Baghdad and Tokyo - have a look at the Grand Canyon - it's all there to explore...
