All About Reese's Peanut Butter CupsPeanut butter cups

"LIFE'S GOOD BETWEEN REESE'S PEANUT BUTTER CUPS."

Who doesn't love these American candies that have been sold in America for over 75 years in the same familiar orange packaging? Though many never would have thought of pairing chocolate with peanut butter, the combination has been a huge success in America, with the popularity of the tasty peanut butter cup the undeniable proof.

Reese's Peanut Butter Cups have recently started to come in all shapes and sizes from the recognizable medium sized cups (two per package) to a bag of mini's. Around November, Reese's releases their Christmas tree peanut butter cup - a great gift for friends abroad at Christmas.

The limited edition white chocolate peanut butter cups are now a permanent fixture and they regularly churn out the Big Cup peanut butter cups and the Inside Out and Dark Chocolate varieties as well (though they are still harder to get hold of).

History of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups

Inspired by Hershey, Harry Burnett (H.B.) Reese - a former Hershey employee - set up a company in the 1920's making the peanut butter cups that are known and loved today from processed peanut butter (apparently with just roasted peanuts, sugar and salt) and Hershey's chocolate.

As time went on Reese needed a bigger factory so he moved the plant, though it was still located in the town of Hershey, Pennsylvania.

Hershey Foods bought the Reese Candy Company for a hefty $23.5m in 1963.

More than Candy

Although Peanut Butter Cups are a great treat on their own, many people make Reese's peanut butter cookies by simply pushing a Reese's miniature into their cookie dough. Others make Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Cakes or even (sounds delicious) a Reese's peanut butter cup cheesecake.

As popular as they are in America, Reese's peanut butter cups are not yet widely available around the world.
